Australia Day

It was Australia Day today in Australia. It's kind of like the 4th of July at home, except it doesn't seem very celebrated here. It is a holiday, so Pat did not have to go to work today. Since the kids are still on summer vacation, we decided to go to the beach. There was an event that we "almost" entered - The Thong Challenge. You could buy an air mattress for 30 dollars, and be in the world record attempt for the longest line of air mattresses in the water. We were late getting there and feeling rushed, so we decided to be spectators.

Instead, we just tried to enjoy the beach. It figures that with all the 100 degree days we've had here that the day we go to the beach it's only 70 and windy. It actually seemed cold - I even had goose bumps! The kids weren't even interested in playing in the sand, which usually occupies all three of them for hours.

Taylor, Riley and Brody,
I know today is your first day back to school -- I hope you all have a great day! Did you get to meet your new teachers (Taylor and Riley)? I know Brody did yesterday. Do you know if any of your friends will be in your classes? I can't wait to talk to you guys and find out how your day was!

School went well today for all 3 kids - what a relief!!

Taylor and Riley briefly met their teachers before "summer vacation". But now that they have both had them for a day, they both said they are very nice.

Brody also likes his new teachers, Jane and Liz.

Taylor new one girl in her class from "last year" - Michelle. Riley new 2 girls in her class from "last year" - Kieran and Caitlyn.
