The Great Ocean Road

Apparently, The Great Ocean Road is one of the world's most scenic drives. There are tiny towns all along the curvy roads. Of course the views are beautiful. There are cliffs and "monoliths" all along the drive. It goes on for hundreds of miles.

It has been so hot here that today we decided to get in the air-conditioned car and drive part of the road. We stayed in a very cute little resort town called Lorne. However, with 3 kids in a minivan, we didn't go as far as we would have without kids, but we still saw lots of amazing landscape.

This is the lap pool that was in our hotel.

Riley is starting to enjoy taking her own pictures.

Here is a monolith.

There are 12 of these further up the road. They are called the Twelve Apostles. Unfortunately that was another 2 1/2 hours along the road, so we decided that the single ones we saw were going to have to be good enough!

That looks like it would be quite the drive! I guess I can compare it to driving around White Bear Lake ... do you think the views are similar?

Yes very similar. Out here the waves are bigger, and there aren't so many houses. Oh yea, and there are a lot of surfers.....
