Shrove Tuesday

In Australia, Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday. It is known as Pancake Day or Pancake Tuesday, because it is customary here to feast on pancakes before Lent. As a reminder, they teach religion in the public schools here. So I helped Riley's class as they made pancakes in the after-care room of her school. Since Pat is the one who makes pancakes with the kids, he probably would have been better suited for this.

Hi Riley,
How did the pancakes taste? Were they just as good as your dads? Did you kids have to use some secret recipe or were they straight out of the Aunt Jemima box?

Hi Sherry,

The pancakes tasted good, but they weren't as good as my dad's, because they were too thin. They weren't from a box. We followed a recipe with flour, eggs, milk, and sugar. We put butter and honey or jam. I used jam on mine

I hope your gonna bring that secret recipe home so we can all try some Australian pancakes! We'll be sure to add some extra flour so they aren't too thin. Don't they have syrup down there? I'm really starting to wonder about that place ...

They do have syrup here, but only one kind and it is really runny. Things are different here!
